A sudden shower in some parts of the city Thursday gave some respite to Delhiites from the searing heat.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 41.4 degrees Celsius, which was two notches above the average for this time of the year, said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to officials, there may be a slight drizzle again at night.
"We have found traces of rain in areas like Safdarjung and central Delhi. More rains in other pockets are expected at night," the official said.
Earlier, the capital recorded a minimum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the average.
"We can expect light rains and thundershowers Friday also. It will be a partly cloudy sky and the temperature is expected to go down," the official added.
The city Friday can expect a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and minimum to settle at 31 degrees, the official said.
