The weatherman has some good news for Delhiites. The unexpected nip in the air and the pleasant occasional rains would continue for the next week. It means that the city would be able to escape the torrid heat, which is routine for the month for April in Delhi, for some more time.
"The maximum temperature will remain between 34 and 37 degrees Celsius this week and light rainfall can be expected throughout the week. However, there will not be any major shifts in the weather," said a Met department official.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature settled at 34 degrees, while the minimum was recorded at 21 degrees Celsius. Mild showers were also witnessed throughout the day.
Even though the civic poll heat is at its peak in the city with voting scheduled for Sunday, the maximum temperature tomorrow is expected to be 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum 20 degrees Celsius. The forecast says that Sunday will witness partly overcast skies through the day.
Even though the week ahead will be punctuated by rainfall, Delhiites are not complaining. On the contrary, the showers have brought a welcome respite from the summer heat.
"Sure rains bring traffic jams along but we hope it remains this way for some more time at least. With the summer advancing, it is a welcome change to have light showers through the day. The nights, especially, are very pleasant," said Vanita Mehta, a resident of Malviya Nagar.
