It will not be smooth sailing during the Commonwealth Games for daily commuters to Delhi who use the Surajkund Road. Civic authorities are toying with the idea of closing a part of this road during the Games.

Officials said the fact that they closed the road for about a fortnight in February 2010 for tryouts in the Karni Singh Shooting range is clear indication that Delhi Traffic Police will close Surajkund Road in their jurisdiction for the shooting championship in the Commonwealth Games in October.

"We will discourage daily commuters from Faridabad for using Surajkund road during Commonwealth Games", Raj Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Faridabad.

"At the most we will allow some traffic up to Anangpur chowk and from their divert it to Mathura Road just to avoid Surajkund," ACP Traffic said.

"There is a strong possibility that we will have to completely stop traffic in the four-kilometer-long stretch from Anangpur to Surajkund."
