A day after a 27-year-old woman was found murdered in her Sushant Lok house, police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the case by arresting the victim’s husband.
Monica, who had been working with a telecom firm in Delhi, was allegedly strangled to death by her husband at their Sushant Estate apartment.
The deceased’s husband armyman Hari Prakash has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by his father-in-law, a senior police officer said.
The police have also recorded the statement of the couple’s five-year-old son Parshva, who is said to be the only witness to the murder.
The accused allegedly strangulated his wife and left for Ferozpur in Punjab where he was posted.
“We informed him about the incident and called him to co-operate in the investigation. He came back to Gurgaon and was arrested. He pretended to be innocent and unaware of the murder,” said a police official, adding that the army headquarters have also been apprised of the matter.
The police said that postmortem report has also confirmed that Monica was strangulated to death.
