Sushma's Lokpal speech moves Advani to tears

delhi Updated: Aug 27, 2011 23:14 IST

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj's stirring speech in the House on Saturday on the Lokpal issue on Saturday moved senior BJP leader L K Advani to tears as he blessed and congratulated her.

Advani, who has spoken strongly against corruption and Indian black money stashed away abroad, listened to Swaraj intently as she tore into the government's stand on Hazare's demands and its stand on the Lokpal issue.

Swaraj took dig at Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for his speech on Friday during Zero Hour. She did not even spare Speaker Meira Kumar, saying she gave Gandhi permission to speak for a full 15 minutes even though he was not scheduled to express his views.

The Leader of the Opposition also took on the government for allegedly misusing the CBI and said it had slapped false charges against Advani in the Hawala case.

As soon as Swaraj finished her speech, Advani could not control himself and was seen wiping his tears. Swaraj touched his feet while taking her seat and Advani blessed her.

Advani soon left the House as Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit started speaking on the issue.
