A couple of unlikely clues, a tattoo and a sticker, led the police to alleged murderers in Outer Delhi.

A tattoo with the initials SRY (on the right arm of a dead man) and the sticker of a tailoring shop lead the police to killers of a youth who was killed for property.

The police have arrested three persons for allegedly murdering the victim, Sita Ram Yadav, a resident of Haryana’s Bahadurgarh, on December 4 in Kanjhawala, after the accused took the victim out on the pretext of attending a wedding.

The arrested, neighbours of the deceased, have been identified as Satender Kumar, 24, Vicky, 21 and Sandeep Kumar, 21. “The police found a body with its face disfigured in a field on December 4. We had no clue about its identity. The deceased just had a tattoo ‘SRY’ on his right hand and a sticker ‘Jeet Tailors, Bahadurgarh’ on his shirt,” said Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

“Although we traced the tailor, he could not identify the victim. Policemen then went to each and every house in the locality and found a name plate Sita Ram Yadav outside one of the houses,” she added.

“Satender said he planned to kill Yadav so he could grab his property easily. He allegedly offered his two friends Rs 5 lakh each, for the job,” she added.
