Delhi Government on Saturday terminated the services of Uma Khurana, the teacher who is accused of forcing schoolgirls into prostitution.

"Within two days of having launched an inquiry into the matter, we have taken action against the teacher. The government has decided to terminate her services," Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely told a press conference here.

The action was taken on the basis of the findings of a two-member inquiry committee of the Education Department.
Khurana, who was arrested on Friday, is accused of forcing the girl students of a school in Old Delhi into sex trade.

The arrest came after a TV channel on Thursday aired a sting operation purportedly showing schoolgirls accusing the 41-year-old teacher of filming them in a compromising position and then blackmailing them.

The area around the school in Turkman Gate where Khurana worked had erupted into violence following the airing of the TV expose, with angry parents and local residents going on a rampage.

"This teacher had been suspended earlier, and her suspension had been revoked very recently," Lovely said. "We have given the message that government will not tolerate any nuisance. But this does not reflect on all teachers. We have very good teachers in our schools," he said.
