Team Anna on Thursday supported army chief General VK Singh on his statement that a bribe was offered to him for clearing the Tatra truck deal in 2010. They released documents running to over 100 pages, reportedly showing the involvement of middlemen in defence deals.

Team Anna members Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan said they received documents from a citizen of the United States of America, which "contained evidence of kickbacks and money laundering" in several defence deals.

"This US citizen, C Edmonds Allen, has written to virtually almost all law enforcement agencies and to several ministers, not once but several times, providing copies of all the documents, but has not heard anything yet," Team Anna said in a statement.

"These documents show that the allegations made by General VK Singh are not only true, but also an underestimation of a much worse scenario," it added.

Kejriwal said Team Anna had decided to make public the documents, received by them from the US citizen, after "they were studied in great detail, and verified in whatever way we could do at our end".

"The documents revealed a very well-oiled and entrenched system of commissions. Rather than commissions being taken into normal works, it appears that commissions dictate decisions," Team Anna said in the statement.

Kejriwal reiterated the demand of Anna Hazare's supporters to make investigating agencies, particularly the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate, autonomous.

"Would the government do it? It appears unlikely, given the level up to which people in this government are involved," the statement said.
