Tech institute fresher alleges abuse by seniors

A fresher at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Vivek Vihar in East Delhi has alleged he was made to strip, dance and beaten up when he refused to cooperate with his seniors.

The police arrested six people in connection with the case.

Rajiv Yadav, 17, a resident of of Nand Nagri in Northeast Delhi, complained to police that he was made to strip and forced to dance naked. When he resisted, he was beaten up.

The police said the victim had injuries on his private parts and had to be admitted to hospital.

“I had joined the institute on September 1. On the first day, after my classes I was asked to stay back and I was then ragged. On the second day, I was stopped back again by 8 and 10 seniors, who ragged me,” he said.

“They asked me to sing and dance. I refused, after which they asked me to strip. When I resisted, they removed my clothes and beat me up,” he alleged.
