Delhi Police have arrested a 19-year-old boy who kidnapped and killed a 5-year-old boy for Rs. 5,000. The victim, Rounak, was missing since June 14 after he had gone to play in a ground near his house at Samaipur Badli.
The accused, identified as Vikas Kumar, lived in a rented room of the same building where the victim stayed with his family.
Kumar was arrested on Friday and upon interrogation confessed his crime. "He lured the minor boy by offering a ten rupee note for purchasing biscuit. Kumar needed money and when he came to know that Rajbir has sold his property, he hatched a plan to kidnap his son and demand a ransom, " a senior police officer said.
"After kidnapping Rounak, Kumar took the boy near fish market. He took the boy near an open drain and strangled him and dumped the body in the drain," he added.
