The 14-year-old girl who took the two-year-old baby to the AIIMS trauma centre in a battered condition on January 18 was forced into a commercial sex racket, an investigation by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) that heard the case on Tuesday has revealed.
After several professional counselling sessions, the teenager provided a disturbing account of her trauma.
She claimed several people sexually abused her in the past one year and named a number of people, including two women and two men, who took her to various clients across the city and outside.
The key accused, Rajkumar — who handed her the two-year-old baby girl and whose real name is Dilshad alias Babloo — was one of them.
The teenager said she was taken to Etah, Uttar Pradesh, where several people repeatedly abused her.
In August last year, she was sent to a woman’s house in south Delhi’s Munirka area for a week. Dilshad himself would drop her at these places, she said. A woman named Pooja, who the 14 year-old named in her complaint, pocketed all the money she earned.
The teenager also accused her father of physically abusing her and her mother, who died five years ago, every day with belts and sticks. According to the girl, her father, Jitender Gupta, is a murder accused and is out on bail.
“My father was in jail for eight years for the murder of my bua’s (father’s sister) son,” the teenager told the committee members. The case is registered in Kalkaji police station. The father confirmed it.
Keeping in the mind the sensitivity of the issue, CWC members heard the case in a closed room at the south
Delhi shelter where the girl has been currently kept. Her father was also present at the hearing.
The committee ruled that the teenager would continue to stay in the south Delhi shelter as she refused to go with her father.
“In cases like these, the child’s opinion matters a lot, and she vehemently refused to go with her father,” said a CWC member, requesting anonymity.
“Our counsellors have done a commendable job and the girl is showing positive signs. She has gone through a lot and our attempt will be to rehabilitate her,” said the member.
In its order, the committee has ordered the police to register a case against the father for cruelty and abuse against the teenager, and against all the persons named by the girl.
The teenager will tested for sexually transmitted diseases. A pregnancy test will also be conducted.
Later in evening, the police questioned the teenager’s father about the charges she levelled against him.
The police also questioned a couple who the girl alleged had made money by supplying her to various clients.
