A 14-year-old boy holding a grudge against his neighbour over Rs. 50 allegedly stabbed her to death in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri on Sunday night. Two other women trying to save her too fell victim to his rage.
Vineeta, 30, from whom the teenager had borrowed Rs. 50 by lying that his mother needs it, suffered 15 stab wounds from scissors.
The boy killed Vineeta's 40-year-old landlady Santra and her 24-year-old daughter Jyoti when they tried to intervene.
Police said the boy had planned to kill Vineeta around a month ago because she told his mother about the money he had borrowed. The mother had thrashed him.
"The boy felt humiliated and wanted to take revenge," said Meenu Choudhary, DCP (northwest).
"After keeping a watch on Vineeta for a few days, he found his opportunity on Sunday night."
Choudhary said since the boy worked in a factory, his mother had thought the money was part of his salary. She came to know about the truth on meeting Vineeta.
Police picked up the teenager and seized the murder weapon. A police officer said the boy locked himself up in a toilet in Vineeta's house when neighbours came to know about the murders and blocked all exits.
Vineeta's husband Pawan Kumar said the attack was so violent that blood from Vineeta's body stained their three children's clothes. Police are waiting for the autopsy report to confirm if there was any sexual assault.
