Thundershowers with hailstones lashed the national capital on Friday evening bringing down the temperature.
The winter showers are likely to continue till Saturday morning and the temperatures will dip further, according to the Meteorological Department.
The Capital received 14mm rainfall between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm on Friday.
“The rains are likely to continue till tomorrow (Saturday) morning but it will not be continuous. We are expecting a clear sky with no rain for tomorrow,” said an official from the Met Department.
During the day, which was cloudy, the temperature hovered around 23°C. In the evening, it was around 21°C but after the downpour the temperature dropped to 15°C.
The minimum temperature on Friday was recorded at 11.7°C.
The IMD forecasts a misty morning on Saturday and the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 21.6°C and 15°C, respectively.
