Noted television personality, Karan Thapar, who is also a columnist with the Hindustan Times , has won the Asian Television Award for Best Current Affairs presenter.
Thapar received the award at a ceremony in Singapore on Thursday night. He was chosen from among 65 entries from 50 countries.
Thapar was awarded for his Devil's Advocate programme for CNN-IBN. The winning interview with Ram Jethmalani was on his decision to re-join the BJP.
It ended abruptly when the lawyer-politician walked out in anger over questions exploring allegations of political opportunism.
This is Thapar's fifth win in the Award's history of 15 years.
