Joining the raging controversy over the issue of Mumbai belongs to whom, Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday said that he celebrates diversity unlike Thackeray who promotes "chauvinism".

He was asked on Twitter "u "bat" for Keralite and "Thackeray" bat for "Marathi" so y (why) so noise in media??????".

"Major difference: Kerala welcomes people frm (from) everywhere, whereas Mr Thackeray does not. I celebrate diversity, not chauvinism," he said.

Shiv Sena's claim that Mumbai was for Marathi 'manoos' has generated a lot of reaction from all quarters including political parties and the sports community.
