‘The RPO is like a madhouse’

When Aadil Bhatia (22) was offered a training session in Thailand by his boss, he quickly jumped at the opportunity. Since he did not have a passport, he decided to apply for one and get it.

Once he reached the Regional Passport Office, all his hopes were shattered.

“When I came to the passport office it was like a madhouse. With no information counters and rude officials, I was forced to run from one floor to another to get some information on how to get started with it,” said Bhatia.

Two months ago Bhatia, a resident of Shalimar Bagh, had gone to the passport office at Bhikaji Cama Place.

“With much difficulty, I managed to get the application form and fill in the details. After much hard work and battling long queues I managed to submit the form. I thought my job was done but it was nothing like that,” said Bhatia. A few days later, Bhatia checked the status on the website and also sent an SMS on a helpline number to know the status of his passport.

When he did not get any response, he decided to come to the passport office again and check for himself.

“There is no one here who can answer your queries. The man at the counter said that it is still under process. They promise to deliver it within 30 days,” said Bhatia.

Bhatia said his office has asked for his passport in a week’s time and that it was highly unlikely that he would get one.

“This training session is extremely important for my career. I can’t go there just because someone else has decided not to work,” said Bhatia.

He added that in the past two years since he started working he has never faced any such problem.

“This is worse than achieving deadlines and targets,” said Bhatia.
