A designer wear showroom was burgled in southeast Delhi on Wednesday night. Although the owner claimed that clothes and jewellery worth a few crores were stolen, the police estimated the loss to tune of a few lakhs of rupees.
The burglars allegedly made way with artificial jewellery and designer wear. The incident was reported from the showroom Roshan's in Lajpat Nagar owned by one Puneet Kohli.
The burglars broke open the locks of the glass doors and cut the iron chains.
The police said Kohli lives on the first, second and third floors of the building, along with other members of his family. They run the shop from the ground floor and basement of the same building.
Police are questioning Pinto and Vijay, the two security guards of the showroom, who were allegedly not present when the showroom was burgled.
"The entire shop was ransacked and clothes, including designer sarees, readymade garments, stylish ladies purses and artificial jewellery items were missing," said a senior police officer.
The police claimed that the shop owner has not given the full list of items missing from his shop so the total cost of the looted items is yet to be ascertained.
Kohli has, however, claimed that he told the police that he has lost articles worth Rs 2 crore.
He also claimed that the assailants first tried to barge into his house from the rear end of the building but they broke open the locks of the shop instead.
The police said the CCTV camera outside the store was not working for the last few days and the camera installed inside did not have night mode, so it could not record anything.
