Expressing deep concern over the decline in the child sex ratio in the city, the Delhi government on Tuesday organised a state-level function at Talkatora Garden. The function was organised as part of National Girl Child Day Celebrations.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit said that the girl child should not be treated as burden on the family but should be considered as the most-talented personality of the future.

“The aim of our government is to work in the direction of zero tolerance to the female foeticide. We have been providing all opportunities to the girl child and hence, it makes no ground to discriminate between son and daughter,” said Dikshit.

Dikshit while expressing her deep concern over decline in gender ratio stated that her government has been serious to improve gender imbalance for which Laadli Scheme was launched with dual aim to improve gender ratio and increase enrolment of girls in schools.
