Indian Penal Code

Delhi police have arrested two robbers who knew the Indian Penal Code thoroughly and had turned into burglars because the punishment is less for burglary compared to robbery.

The duo have been identified as Irfan, alias Don (38), and Bhagwati (32). They have been arrested under section 41.1 CrPC for not attending court in any of their previous cases.

“They have several cases of robberies and murders against them but he changed his modus operandi. Irfan is aware of the fact that in robbery and dacoity the quantum of punishment is more in comparison to theft and burglary. Instead of robbing the victim at gunpoint they started committing burglaries,” Arun Kampani, DCP (special cell) said. Interestingly after successfully committing the crime the gang members used to assemble at an isolated place and celebrate.

“The other modus operandi of the criminals was to take a woman with them when they went to commit the crime. The weapons were hidden in the woman’s purse. They used to appear as family members. Irfan was earlier arrested by Special Cell in 2010. After coming out of jail he again indulged in crime,” Kampani added. In June, Irfan and his associates committed burglary in Samai Pur Badli and stole jewellery worth about Rs 5 lakh.
