Even orphanages are on the radar of thieves.
A group of burglars made away with cash, valuables as well as clothes of the physically challenged children living at an orphanage in southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area, on Tuesday night.
Innocent World Charitable Society runs the orphanage in Sevak Park area called Masoom Duniya.
The thieves broke into the office and broke open a few cupboards. They also took a few things lying in the office.
“The thieves took away a digital camera and a TV. They also took away cash and valuables worth around Rs 50,000. The worst part is that they even broke open an almirah which had clothes of the children and stole them as well,” said a senior police officer.
The theft was reported in the morning after one of the caretakers at the orphanage noticed the office ransacked
“We have registered a case of theft against unknown people. We are looking into the people in the surrounding areas and checking if some new gang of thieves have become active,” said a senior police officer.
