The outer Delhi police on Monday arrested three persons who had recently abducted a businessman and robbed him of his Swift car and other belongings. According to police, the accused have been identified as Pankaj, 21, Deepak, 20 and Ashish alias Deva, 19. Pankaj, whose father works as a security supervisor in Delhi Transport Corporation, is pursuing ITI while Deva is a BA first year student in a Delhi University college.

On June 9, a senior police officer said, the accused had abducted Surender Kumar, a businessman dealing in artificial jewellery, in his Swift car from near a temple in Rohini area.

"They drove Kumar in his car for over three hours around the streets in outer Delhi, until a wheel of the car got stuck in a pit and Kumar managed to escape," said the senior officer.

P Karunakaran, additional DCP (outer) said the arrest came following the information received by a police officer that the accused involved in the crime are likely to come near Jaipur Golden hospital.

"Accordingly, a trap was laid and the accused were nabbed travelling in a Swift car which they had robbed from Kumar. They were using the vehicle after changing its registration number plate with a fake one," said Karunakaran.

Efforts are on to nab the other four accused who were also involved in the abduction cum robbery case, the officer said.
