Three youths, including a girl, are in the dock for allegedly misbehaving with two women traffic police personnel on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road late on Wednesday night.

"Janakpuri resident Prashant and Varun of Jeevan Park were arrested. We decided not to prosecute the girl but when she started misbehaving, a case was registered against her and she will be arrested," said Sub-Inspector Jai Bhagwan, who is the investigating officer in the case. Prashant is a civil engineer while Varun is an architect.

"On the complaint of ASI Raj Bala, the duo was arrested and sent to judicial custody," said ACP Krishan Murari.

A case has been registered under Section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty) at the Sector-29 police station and further investigations are on. The Skoda car they were travelling in has been impounded.

"People arguing with cops is a routine affair and our officials are trained for it. During a drive against drunken driving, we face stiff resistance. Now, we will put those who misbehave with our staff behind bars," said Bharti Arora, DCP (Traffic).

"ASI Raj Bala had asked a woman constable to check the alcohol level of the three accused.

They refused to blow into the alcometer and started shouting at the cop. The police had to be called in," said a senior police officer.
