Upset over financial crisis, three members of a family allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in North Delhi, police said on Thursday.
Kusum Jain (45) was found dead this morning along with her two sons - Sachin Jain (27) and Pramod Jain (25) in her rented house in Subzi Mandi locality, they said.
Police said the family was suffering from the financial crisis since the death of Kusum's husband Satish Jain due to cancer last year.
Three empty glasses and a bottle were found in the room where the bodies were lying, a police officer said, adding the glasses might have been used to drink the poisonous substances.
The three had vomited in the room before their death, the officer said, adding there was no sign of ransacking of the house.
"The family had a photo-frame factory and a house in Punjabi basti which were sold out last year to arrange the money for Satish's treatment," the officer said.
The family was living as tenant since last eleven months, neighbours said. The bodies were sent for postmortem, police said.
