Three eminent Delhi principals were felicitated with the prestigious 'National Award to teachers 2011' by President Pranab Mukherjee at the Teachers' Day awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan on 5th Sept. The award is annually bestowed upon educationists for their remarkable contributions in the field of education. The recipients included LV Sehgal, principal, Bal Bharati , Ganga Ram Hospital Marg; Dr DR Saini, principal, DPS, R.K Puram and Premlata Garg, principal, DAV public school, Srestha Vihar. The award includes a silver medal, certificate of merit, and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. Minister for human resource development Kapil Sibal and ministers of state for HRD E. Ahamed and D.Purandeswari were also present at the function.
Army Public School, Noida
celebrated its 18th Raising Day recently. The chief guest for the occasion was the school chairman Brig. Dinesh Chadha (Commander HQ 261 Arty Brigade). The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a dance performance. Principal Anita Shah addressed the students and spoke about the need to protect the environment. The cultural programme was based on the theme—'Caring for Environment.' A documentary film, shot and edited by the students of the school was shown, depicting the school journey.
The 'Green Warriors' of the school presented the news and highlighted the measures to combat environmental degradation. The Chairman congratulated the students on their outstanding performance and shared his principles of life to achieve success. The vote of thanks was presented by the vice- principal Rama Srinivasan.
Ryan International Group of Schools organised an Indian Model United Nations conference, an initiative of founder chairman, Dr. Augustine F Pinto and the managing director, Grace Pinto. Students posing as UN delegates from various parts of the world discussed peace and role of dialogue and discussions. The event witnessed participation of students from India, Indonesia, Nepal, Srilanka. Students debated and formed consensus to pass resolutions, offering solutions to the recent issues of international importance and on the theme 'For a better world'. Chief Guest Sandeep Dikshit, IAS, M.P East Delhi, felicitated the winners.
Delhi Public School, Sector-45, Gurgaon hosted the Inter DPS Hindustani vocal music
festival in which nineteen schools of DPS participated. Dhara Jaipuria, pro vice chairperson, DPS Gurgaon was the chief guest. Renu Mital, director, DPS Society was the guest of honour. Rupa Chakravorty, principal, Suncity World School was also present to encourage and appreciate the talent of the singers. Padmashree Shanti Hiranand and Dr Meeta Pandit, exponents of music, presided over the function as judges. The guests were felicitated at the valedictory function. Principal Aditi Misra addressed the gathering and expressed her joy and admiration at the talent of the young musicians. Chief guest declared the winners. Renu Mital delivered the vote of thanks.
