The southwest Delhi Police have arrested three robbers, including a proclaimed offender, for their alleged involvement in stabbing and robbing a software engineer in Dwarka area on December 7. The arrested accused were wanted by the Delhi Police in four more cases of armed robbery.
Dharambir, 24, Pankaj, 22, and Shiv Kumar, 22, were arrested by a team of Dwarka south police station following investigation into the sensational December 7 robbery incident, the police said. Pankaj is a proclaimed offender.
AK Ojha, DCP (southwest) said Vipin Yadav, who works at an IT company, was walking home from a local bus stand when he was accosted by three men in a DDA park. "They stabbed Yadav with a knife and decamped with his mobile phone, purse and Rs 630 in cash," said Ojha.
A major breakthrough, Ojha said, came when the team examined CCTV footage of ICICI Bank in Vishal Enclave where the miscreants had used victim’s ATM card to withdraw Rs 2,200.
"They are close friends and used to consume liquor in the evening together. Initially, they used to commit petty thefts and then graduated into vehicle theft," Ojha added.
