A Netherlands court has dashed a Chennai-based couple’s hopes of tracing their missing son by rejecting their request for DNA tests on a boy who is now in that country.
A Dutch couple had adopted the boy — now aged 15 years — from Chennai-based Malaysian Social Services in 2000.
The adoption documents said the boy was born in October 1997 to an unwed mother.
But subsequently the poor Chennai couple claimed the boy was their son who went missing in March 1999.
The couple, which has lost their case in a Netherlands high court, is trying to meet the boy through an NGO.
