Slamming Union Minister Salman Khurshid for his remarks on salaries of CEOs, a top VHP leader on Sunday alleged these were intended to destabilise the Indian economy.
"Mr Khurshid is saying the salaries of the CEOs are vulgar. This is a part of a conspiracy and we should realise this soon," VHP General Secretary Praveen Togadia said in RSS mouthpiece Organiser.
"The salaries of the CEOs are not vulgar, rather your motive to destabilise the economy is vulgar," he said.
"Is hardwork vulgarity? Is donating 40 per cent of one's income in income tax vulgarity?" Togadia said.
Earlier this month, Khurshid said "I think when we are working on this (austerity), we can hardly say that we (will) shut our eyes on what salary the CEOs are going to take."
The Corporate Affairs Minister was responding to a question on how the government intends to control salaries of CEOs which at times appear vulgar.
