Family of the Delhi braveheart expressed anger and anguish after the much-awaited verdict in the gangrape case gave the accused juvenile three years in special home. Making it clear they were not satisfied with the punishment meted out to the juvenile, they said they will appeal in the Delhi High Court.

The juvenile was found guilty of murder, rape, abduction and destruction of evidence, by a sessions court and given three years in special home.

However, the family of the Delhi gangrape victim, who succumbed to injuries in Singapore after battling for life for over a week, stressed they were denied justice.

In an emotional but strongly worded reaction to the verdict, the victim's father said: "It's a crime to be born a girl in this country".

The mother too expressed her displeasure at the verdict, and even remarked that, "Only three years? They may as well acquit him now."

"Hang the juvenile," said the braveheart's mother, adding, "It was too little, too late."

Calling the verdict meaningless, the December 16 gangrape victim's brother said the sentence made no difference.

"This conviction is as good as nothing. Only three years? We will appeal in high court," he said.
