Two bike-borne youths robbed a trader of Rs 5 lakh in Preet Vihar area in east Delhi on Saturday afternoon, the police said.

"The victim, identified as Gagan Seth (44), was coming out from the bank along with his employee, Avinash Kumar Chaudhary (42), and was moving towards his car when the incident happened," said a senior police officer.

Seth had reached the ICICI Bank branch in his Santro car around 1.30 pm. "Seth had withdrawn Rs 5 lakh from the bank and had kept it in the laptop bag which he was carrying on his shoulder. The unidentified robbers snatched his bag and flee," the officer added.

A PCR call was made and police rushed to the spot. Police have recorded Seth's statement in which he said that the robbers were on a black Pulsar bike.

"The pillion rider snatched the laptop bag and fled. I couldn't see the registration number of the bike. Both were wearing helmets so we couldn't see their faces either," Seth told police in his statement.

Police said they are scanning the footage of the CCTV camera installed outside the bank. "It seems they were following the victims," the officer added.

A case of robbery has been registered at the Preet Vihar police station and further investigations are on. Seth is a transporter and has his business in Sahibabad.
