Traffic hit as road caves in on KG Marg

A portion of a road in central Delhi caved in today affecting traffic for some time, officials said. The road gave in at the intersection of Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Hailey Road near Connaught Place, they said.

A spokesperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council, under which the area falls, said the cave-in was due to damage to a water pipeline caused by "trenchless digging".

"We covered the pit within a short time and traffic was restored in the area," he said.
