Traffic jams were reported from different parts of the Capital on Thursday.
While commuters complained of jams across central, south and southeast Delhi, the traffic police claimed that congestion had been reported only from a few pockets in north and southeast Delhi.
"Snarls were reported only from Malka Ganj to Subzi Mandi and from the Govindpuri fish market," said a traffic police officer. Commuters, however, differed.
"Getting from my house near Parliament Street to ITO was a nightmare in the morning," said Sushant Sharma, 34, a sales executive. "A trade union rally ended up stalling traffic till Mandi House and it took me more than an hour to get to office."
South Delhi, too, witnessed major snarls on account of VIP movement across the city. Many commuters, such as Malini Narayan, 24, were stranded at the BRT for 45 minutes.
This, commuters complained, had a ripple effect on vehicular movement on the Mathura Road, the Ring Road, Zakir Husain Marg and the Kasturba Gandhi Marg.
