The 18-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a placement agency owner and was rescued on Sunday from a nursing home in south Delhi, has claimed that the woman who had brought her to Delhi had also brought 14 other girls.

Police said the woman — Kunti Devi — used to bring girls from Jharkhand and hand them over to her husband Rajesh, who was running a placement agency at Aligaon in south Delhi.

The girl who was given pills, to abort her pregnancy, has exposed a shocking tale in which unscrupulous agents, taking advantage of the rampant poverty, are trafficking young girls to metro cities and selling them as domestic helps.

"There were girls as old as 10, all stuffed in one room in the placement agency. All of us would sleep on the floor next to each other. After a point of time, we were sold to residents to work as domestic helps. A few of us even used to stay at placement agency," said a senior police officer.

The girl worked as a domestic help in Dwarka for two months but left the job and came back to the placement agency. Rajesh raped her there.

After that, the girl worked at a house in Gurgaon. She became pregnant in the meantime. After she returned from Gurgaon, Rajkumar, Rajesh's accomplice, allegedly gave her pills to abort the pregnancy.

The girl told the police that Kunti is well known back in the village for bringing several girls to Delhi. Sources said Rajkumar is the link who could lead to the arrest of Rajesh and Kunti.

“The address furnished by the girl is wrong. Rajkumar is absconding and his arrest would lead us to the main culprit. It was Rajkumar who had brought the girl to a nursing home in Ambedkar Nagar,” he added.

Sources said Rajkumar had promised the doctor he would return but he did not.
