Indian Railways will showcase the recently inaugurated Kashmir rail link project at the Republic Day parade this year.
Depicting the train operation between Rajwansher to Anantnag in Kashmir, the railways' tableau at the parade will have a reflection of snow covered Srinagar railway station, an aerodynamic shaped DMU rake and a tunnel.
Prime Minister had inaugurated the train service in Kashmir in October last year amid a great fanfare.
As a special feature, the train selected to be run on this stretch with the 1400 HP diesel EMU engine has been provided with heating system for quick and trouble free start in winter.
The train is also equipped with the snow-cutting type cattle guard at the driving end of diesel power car for clearing snow from tracks during winter.
The coaches with its distinctive colour scheme has a passenger carrying capacity of 90 each.
Besides, the coaches has heating arrangement for passenger comfort through roof mounted heating units. Wide unbreakable splinter proof windows for panoramic view and sliding doors at the doorways have also been provided.
According to a senior Railway Ministry official, the tableau is a perfect thematic depiction of this beautiful Kashmir railway system.
The tableau which will be mounted on a tractor and two trailers and will have a group of artists performing during the parade.
