The Delhi government on Wednesday appointed Rajendra Kumar as the new principal secretary and commissioner of the transport department. Kumar will take over the charge from R Chandramohan, who will retire on October 31. Senior officials from the government said Kumar has been directed to take over the charge with immediate effect.
A 1989-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, Kumar was serving as the commissioner in trade and taxes department. Though Chandramohan still has 2 weeks to leave, sources said the government wants him to focus on his remaining work in the department of urban development (UD).
Chandramohan was given additional charge as the principal secretary of the UD department, which is handling regularisation of unauthorised colonies. Prashant Goyal, member of the Delhi Jal Board, has been appointed as new commissioner in the trade and taxes department.
