Black-marketeers, tricksters and eve-teasers are making the most of the 14-day long trade fair.

Several cases of fake currency being circulated at the fair came to light on Friday. Delhi police also reported cases of tickets being sold in black outside the venue .

“To curb the activities of black-marketeers, we have constituted several teams that are successfully keeping black-marketers away from the venue,” a senior police officer said, adding, “On Friday, we seized around 30 tickets from a black marketeer.”

To tackle the problem of black-marketing of tickets, organisers have advised people to purchase tickets from counters at Metro stations before they board the Metro.

Cases of tricksters selling counterfoils have also become very common at the venue.

“People coming to the fair along with their family and friends don’t want to go back without visiting the fair. They readily pay as much as Rs 300 for a Rs 40 entry ticket and black-marketeers earn huge profits,” said a senior ITPO official.

Cases of fake currency being circulated at the trade fair have also surfaced.

“There were complains from some exhibitors that fake currency notes worth Rs 500 were being freely circulated. We have asked the police to take necessary action,” said PC Sharma, general manager, security, ITPO.

Meanwhile, the trade fair has also turned into an eve-teaser’s paradise.

“We detain 15 to 20 men for eve-teasing everyday. We are cracking down on them,” the police officer added.
