Suresh Kalmadi, who faces allegations of irregularities in the conduct of Commonwealth Games, could soon be in further trouble.
An indication to this effect was available in Congress on Wednesday, a day on which former telecom minister A Raja was arrested by CBI in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
A senior party leader, who declined to be identified, said that there is likely to be "action" ahead of the Budget session of Parliament as the government is making all out efforts to make it a smooth affair.
He said that the 2G scam and irregularities in the Commonwealth Games were two main issues before the UPA government on which it was taking "visible and transparent" action.
Like in the case of 2G scam, the next course of action in Commonwealth Games irregularities will depend upon the findings of the investigative agency.
Kalmadi, who is the chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, has already been interrogated by CBI and later has been removed from the post by Ajay Maken, who has recently taken over as the sports minister.
A Lok Sabha member from Pune, Kalmadi has already been removed as the Secretary of the Congress Parliamentary Party.
