“The incident took place at around 7 am in Jonti village in Kanjhawala. The truck and the bus collided head on. Truck driver Tarachand (43) was killed while bus driver Mahender Singh escaped with minor injuries,” said a senior police officer.
According to the police, the truck was carrying around 50 people, including children. The driver was speeding and had lost control over the vehicle. It then collided with the bus plying on route number 114 between Kutubgarh and Azadpur Vegetable Market. Passengers travelling in the bus were saved from any major injuries, whereas all the persons traveling in the truck were seriously injured.
All the injured were rushed to hospitals where truck driver Tarachand, Ashu (3) and six-month old Vishal Kumar succumbed to injuries.
“The bus driver had seen the truck coming in it full speed and to evade the accident, he had stopped the bus at a distance, but the truck driver took a sudden turn and rammed into the bus,” said a police officer.
“We went to Haryana in this truck to work in a brick kiln. I did not think that this truck would kill my daughter,” said Shripal, Ashu’s father.
