Two persons died and eight others were critically injured in separate incidents in the city over the past 24 hours.
A 40-year-old man identified as Shashi died and seven others suffered injuries after their vehicle was hit by another in the Rani Bagh area of outer Delhi.
"The incident took place around 4.45 am when a speeding vehicle hit their car near Madhuban Chowk underpass in Rani Bagh area," a police source said.
A PCR call was made around 4.50am and the victims were taken to a nearby hospital.
Shashi was declared dead on arrival. He had suffered head injuries and loss of blood which caused his death, the police said.
"The group was returning from a pilgrimage and heading towards Peeragarhi in Sultanpuri area. The vehicle they were travelling in had a collision with another speeding vehicle," police said.
After the incident, the errant driver fled the spot. A case has been registered in the Rani Bagh police station.
In another incident, a 40-year-old man was killed and the driver of his vehicle injured when a speeding Toyota Fortuner hit their Tata Indigo in Rohini Sector 3.
The police said Sashi Bhushan and driver Devendra were injured in the incident that took place on Saturday around 11pm. A PCR call was made around 11.10pm and the victims were taken to nearby hospital where Bhushan was declared as dead on arrival.
The errant Toyota driver fled the spot.
