Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa is celebrating her one year in office, and the taxpayer is paying for the party. The Tamil Nadu government published fullpage ads in leading national papers on Wednesday.
The front page ads in at least five newspapers of the country sparked outrage and ridicule on Twitter.
With a full-length picture of saree-clad Jayalalithaa posing on the front page, the ad goes on to detail the achievements of the Tamil Nadu government in past one year.
While majority of tweeple poked fun on the ads and Jayalalithaa, there were some who came to her defence. The buzz was so much that the Tamil Nadu CM started trending in India.Sample this:
@JayHind: Jayalalitha is looking so slim in that old photo used for the front page ad in Express I thought it's a Talwalkar's ad.
@coolfunnytshirt: Looking at Jayalalitha, i think its fair to say that she can be accommodated in a newspaper only if her pic starts from the first page !
