The police have apprehended two people, including a juvenile, allegedly involved in over five cases of robbery committed within a span of 90 minutes in Northwest Delhi on Saturday.
The robbers on the loose robbed five people of their valuables including cash and mobile phones and stabbed two of them when they tried to resist the bid.
According to the police, one of the complainants chased the accused and helped catch them.
Arun along with the juvenile allegedly carried out five robberies in quick succession at knife point in Northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar and Bharat Nagar area.
“In the wake of high alert, all staff including senior officers were in the area and on patrolling,” DCP Northwest, Vijay Singh said.
The information about the first robbery was received by the police around 9.15pm wherein the complainant said that he was robbed at knifepoint near Khiman Singh Park by two youths.
Just a few minutes later another complaint was received at Bharat Nagar regarding a man being robbed of his cash at knife point.
“Following the information police rushed to the spot and taking leads from the complainant rushed towards the Ring Road where the accused had fled. In the meantime, they robbed another person and stabbed him in the chest when he resisted,” police said.
Police teams then started searching for the duo. Meanwhile, the complainant one Rohit, while sitting in the Gypsy, identified two youths on the Ring road near All Heavens Banquet. In a bid to escape, the accused jumped from the Azadpur fly over but Rohit along with one head constable chased them and managed to overpower them. On their search five mobile phones, Rs 3,000 and a knife were recovered from them, police said.
