Two young girls have allegedly been raped in the Capital in the past two days, police said.
An eight-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour at Jaitpur in south Delhi on Saturday afternoon. The accused neighbour has been arrested.
The Class 2 student of a government school, who lives with her parents, was returning home after school when her neighbour, Masood, lured her to his home and raped her.
When the girl began screaming for help, her mother along with other neighbours went to Masood’s house and caught him. The neighbours beat him up before handing him over to police.
A team of policemen who went to Masood’s home took the girl to a government hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that she had been raped.
Masood, a daily labourer, was booked for raping the child. He was arrested and produced before a city court that sent him to Tihar jail.
A 16-year-old resident of Kalyanpuri in east Delhi has accused one of her friends of raping her around a month ago. The police have arrested the accused, Sameer.
He had pressured the Class 10 student to not to mention the incident to anyone. On Friday, Sameer attempted to rape the girl again. She managed to flee and reach home.
There, the girl spoke of her ordeal to her mother, who approached the police in Mayur Vihar and filed a complaint against Sameer.
He was booked for rape and arrested by the police.
