The central district police on Wednesday arrested two persons who allegedly conned passengers by promising them priority booking of their railway tickets.

Manoj Kumar, 22, and Asif Raja, 28, were arrested following a complaint lodged by a man on Tuesday, said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, additional commissioner of police (Central district).

“Guljari was on his way to New Delhi station to board a train to Bihar. The duo met Guljari and told him that they were travelling to Bihar and could assist him in getting priority tickets since they knew the booking staff,” said Srivastava. The accused took Guljari to an office in Turkman Gate. Kumar and Raja then asked the complainant to hand over his cash and mobile, saying it not permitted inside the office.

“One of the accused, while pretending to walk inside the office, started running. Realising that he was being duped, Guljari raised an alarm. A beat officer from the area nabbed the accused and recovered R900 and a mobile phone from him.
