Two persons who allegedly injured a cyclist in a road accident and left him at an isolated place to die after taking him in their car pretending to rush him to hospital were arrested in Outer Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
The arrested persons were identified as Nitin (19) and his uncle Surender and the Maruti Van involved in the accident had been recovered, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Chhaya Sharma said.
The duo's vehicle had alleged hit Thakur Dass on July one on Mubarakpur Road.
"They had gone to Rohini to fill CNG in the van. Nitin was driving the van at very high speed and hit Dass. In order to avoid public anger, they said they were taking Dass to a hospital but they dumped him at a lonely place in Rohini Sector-22," she said.
Later, they allegedly washed the blood stains from the van. The victim's brother Ganga identified his body on July 2 in Rohini.
During investigations, Sharma said, the vehicle was traced and the owner was identified as Bijender. When approached by police he said that his son Nitin was driving the van.
