Two unidentified bikers snatched a bag containing lakhs of cash from a senior citizen in Narela in outer Delhi on Friday afternoon.

The victim, 65-year-old former MTNL employee Bhagwan Bansal, has visited the Bawana Road branch of the Corporation Bank on Friday morning to withdraw R5 lakh.

“After withdrawing the cash, he placed it in his bag and left the bank. The victim was walking near a hospital in Punjabi Colony area of Narela when two unidentified bikers intercepted him,” said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

The police said the bikers snatched his bag containing R5 lakhs and escaped from the area before Bansal could alert the pedestrians.

Bansal, a resident of Narela, immediately made a call to the police. The statement of the victim was recorded following which a case has been registered. No arrests have been made so far.
