Five Uttar Pradesh policemen were injured when their van collided with a low floor Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus at Pandit Pant Marg in central Delhi on Saturday night, police said.
The incident was reported at 8 pm on Saturday. The DTC bus reportedly applied brakes suddenly and the UP Police van, which was behind, hit it.
“The UP Police van was coming from behind and when the DTC bus driver applied brakes, it crashed into the bus,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media. “The front of the van was badly damaged.”
Police said the DTC bus
halted suddenly to pick up a passenger when the accident took place. The policemen who were sitting in front of the van were injured.
“We received a call around 8 pm about the accident. A team was rushed to the spot and the injured were rushed to nearby hospital,” said the officer.
Police said the injured policemen were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) where they were given medical treatment.
“Their condition is said to be stable,” said the officer.
Police said they were investigating the case and would register a case.
None of the passengers in the DTC bus were injured.
Police said the police van was speeding and could not control its speed when the DTC bus stopped in front of it.
