Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, undergoing treatment for chest infection at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, continues to be stable and is making steady progress, doctors attending to him said on Friday.
"Vajpayee is on a mechanical ventilator and continues to be in the ICU (intensive care unit). His condition is stable and he is making gradual progress," said medical superintendent DK Sharma.
The 84-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party leader was admitted to the hospital after he complained of difficulty in breathing and fever on Feb 3. He was put on mechanical ventilation on Feb 6.
