Vasant Vihar RWA stages protest, stalls traffic

delhi Updated: Mar 31, 2011 23:34 IST

The resident’s of Vasant Vihar staged a protest in the morning peak hour at the outer Ring Road demanding construction of another carriageway of Rao Tula Ram flyover in south Delhi.

Though the residents claimed they blocked traffic for only two minutes, it brought traffic to a halt. Residents were accompanied by New Delhi MP Ajay Maken, local MLA Barkha Singh and councillor Kapila Gaur.

The RWA has been demanding an adjoining flyover along the existing one-way traffic flyover on the Rao Tula Ram Marg, which will join the Munirka flyover. “We have been pursuing this case for the last two years, but now the PWD is going ahead and constructing a foot-over bridge near the Malai Mandir area,” said Jatinder Suri, member, Vasant Vihar RWA.
