The condition of former president R Venkataraman, who was admitted to Army Hospital Research and Referral near Dhaula Kuan, is stable but critical, according to an official statement released by the hospital on Wednesday.
The former president was admitted to the hospital on Monday afternoon after he complained of severe dehydration.
"He was admitted with complains of delirium and dehydration, and later developed urinary tract infection as well," said a source from the hospital.
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil was among the dignitaries who sent a bouquet to the ailing Venkataraman. Ninety eight-year old Venkataraman was the President for five years between July 1987 and July 1992.
