Veteran BJP leader J P Mathur died in New Delhi on Saturday morning after prolonged illness. He was 86.
Mathur, who was ailing for sometime was hospitalised last week and breathed his last at 5:00 am at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
A bachelor, he is one of the founding members of the BJP and has been associated with the RSS since he joined the outfit as a pracharak in 1945.
Born on November 9, 1921 in Bijnaur district in Uttar Pradesh, he was a member of Rajya Sabha thrice and party's deputy leader in the upper house.
He has been associated with the party since Jansangh days. He will be cremated later on Saturday.
