The family of Shobhit Modi, who was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants on Thursday night in Vasant Kunj, is suspecting the role of a girl's family who was his junior in a leading south Delhi school.
According to sources, Radhika (name changed) was with Shobhit on Thursday night and her parents were furious when they got to know about it.
Sources said Radhika's brother had injured her nose a few months back as he was angry over her relationship with Shobhit.
"In February, Radhika's father had sent four goons to beat Shobhit, as he was meeting Radhika quite frequently. Radhika's father had come to Vasant Kunj to meet Shobhit's father and warned him," said Shubham, Shobhit's cousin.
During his visit to Shobhit's house, Radhika's father was very angry and had asked Shobhit to stay away from Radhika.
"A day after he had come to our house, Radhika had to undergo some operation. But she refused to undergo treatment without meeting Shobhit. Radhika's father had then called Suraj Modi, Shobhit's father, to send him to the hospital," Shubham said. Shobhit's family feels it was a planned murder, as Radhika had informed her parents that she was with Shobhit at 8.30pm.
Radhika had called her father at 8.30pm to pick her up from DLF Promenade.
"Initially her father refused to pick her up, as he was angry after knowing she is with Shobhit. But later he went to picked her up around 9.10pm from outside the mall. No one knows what happened in the next 35 minutes, as Shobhit was found stabbed outside gate number 3 of C-5 in Vasant Kunj around 9.45 pm," said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
Shobhit and Radhika kept meeting despite their parents' opposition to the relationship. On Thursday also, Shobhit's family was aware that he was going to meet Radhika.
